View submission: Are opticians just glorified salesman's now?
I work at an opticians as an optical consultant!
Honestly, I don't see myself as a salesman. I will listen to the handover from an Optician and recommend lenses based on what the optician found on the day.
If your prescription is +/-3 diopters, I will explain and probably recommend lens thinning. If you don't want it after I explain it, that's absolutely fine.
In terms of varifocals, the best ones do cost significantly more. The designer ones are ones that we recommend most due to the benefits they have, such as having a wider field of vision when using the reading and intermediate segments. But if you'd rather spend £50 on the upgrade rather than £300+ for the best one, that's absolutely fine, no skin off my back.
I don't really have the job to make my business money, the shareholders already have enough. I just want you to leave with as much information as you need, with the lenses you need
There's nothing here!
