View submission: Are opticians just glorified salesman's now?
I make it clear to my optician from the outset that I don't plan to necessarily buy glasses there, and just need my eyes examined and tested and be given a printed prescription.
If they are not happy with that, I go somewhere else - their choice. As a diabetic, and now over 60, my eye tests are funded by the NHS, so they are getting paid for the examination and test.
Then if I am allowed to quietly browse, before or after the test, I do so. But any attempt at a hard sell is going to fail.
I've used a number of online glasses suppliers, over the last 15 years, and have not had a problem. The cost difference is amazing.
