Honesty tends to get me nowhere. Not that I'm being honest for any kind of gain--it just comes out of me. But it's often misinterpreted as bullshitting, excuses, being passive aggressive... Take your pick.

I *do* recognize that I've gone on auto-pilot bitching about things before (no one likes that), and that my inability to be brief while attempting clarity is not helpful (I'm responding with all of this to a *single word* 😅).

But, more often than not, I honestly don't understand what I did wrong when I do or say exactly what was asked of me.

I learned a long time ago just to say "Fine/I'm doing well," when asked, for example, but I can't help wondering why these 'pleasantries' exist when people seldom care for a real response.
