My wife got very angry and upset with me when I told her I was thinking of nothing once.

Apparently one of her friends convinced her that when men think about nothing, they are actually thinking about other women and how much they want to bang someone else.

Had to explain that no, I was in a vivid imagination where I was a hero in the apocalypse making sure that both our kids and her were safe while fighting back against the horses of evil.

It wasn't important to really try to explain until I had to set things straight for her. She nearly passed out from laughing so hard.

I'm not sure if "horses of evil" is a typo or your actual fantasy, but it sounds like a really cool concept.

I hate to admit that I do this too! I've actually turned several into books. One fantasy got so detailed it became a trilogy.

I have a recurring one where I win the lottery and I bring all my online friends to a vacation location and we all build gaming computers together and then game inside the same room together for a week. Another similar one for my local D&D group as well. Haven't had many post apocalyptic hero ones lately though, but I used to have those ones a lot.

I had this same argument with a partner once, except I was the one who didn’t believe people who said they sometimes thought of nothing at all. It was more a reflection of my own experience than anything – my internal monologue almost never stops, at least not unless I’m doing it on purpose. I’m playing thought ping-pong with myself all day long. It was once completely unfathomable to me that everyone else wasn’t also doing it, but now I get it. The inattentive ADHD is strong, lol
