How women just accept not having usable pockets. It seems like it should have been a self correcting issue but I guess women just want to carry their phones in their hands everywhere.

WE HATE IT! I want pockets. It’s why I often wear my scrub pants on my days off.

I do not accept this. Nor do many other women, to the point at which there is a call and response routine familiar to nearly all of us:

"I love your dress/skirt." "Thanks! It's got POCKETS!"

I once heard a girl say she didn't want anything in her pockets because it would mess up her "silhouette." And honestly I think that's one of the societal image pressures put on women to look perfect at all times - you can't see the perfect curves of her body if her pockets are full of stuff that ruin the lines!

Nah, I wear men's pants. Or cargos.

Where did you get the idea that we "just accept it"?

Women's clothes lack pockets because the fashion industry needs to sell them purses and bags, too. As with every modern woe, capitalism is to blame.

Pants with decent pockets are hard to find and can be more expensive. We don't decide what clothes are made and sold, we just have to do our best with what is available, and pockets aren't.

We don't accept it at all. The biggest feature on my wedding dress was the pockets

You'd think a woman would make a business out of making fashionable clothes with pockets

The majority of us don’t have the ability to change the situation, or make our own clothes.

We *have* to accept it, but that doesn't mean we prefer it. If a dress has pockets, I *garuntee* when someone comments on said dress, the 1st thing she'll say is, "It has pockets!"

We have not accepted this. We're not the one making the pants that are available in our size and if we were the ones making them, they would have pockets.

that issue will never be solved unless women make it a red line issue. they complain about pockets but still buy without them so no reason to change anything.

i have returned clothes and refused to buy them because of bad pockets. no pockets makes the trousers useless to me . why would i want trousers that i can only wear going somewhere that i know i will not need to bring anything with me or back. that never happens

I have a theory! If women had appropriate pockets, there would be no need for purses, including overpriced designer purses at that. Big Purse and Big Fashion are in cahoots! Lol.

I have a very recent story about just this thing. I bought myself a pair of baggy light washed jeans for my birthday this year. I do a very physical job so it's rare for me to wear anything but yoga pants in the day to day but they were so cute.

I wore them once and washed them, my 15 year old son (6'tall and very thin) found them in the clean clothes pile and assumed they were his. We got all the way to school and he went to stick his phone in his pocket before exiting the car and it wouldn't fit. "Why doesn't my phone fit in the pocket of my new jeans? Why is this pocket so small??......" and the moment of realizations hits us both. MOM AM I WEARING YOUR JEANS?!?

yes, yes he was and he only realized because the pockets were worthless.

As a man, we just had our first 50 degree day and I decided to wear a flannel rather than a jacket on a walk to the market. I got so used to a winter coat and was so frustrated everytime I went to put my hands in my pockets and had none!

I still had breast pockets, and front jean pockets, and but pockets, but not my coat pockets. I felt so awkward and lost.

How do people get by with literally 0 pockets?

We don't, but every time we complain a man comes up to us and tells us that we don't actually want pockets because it ruins our silhouettes.

I'm not joking, this happens to me every single time I complain about it on Reddit. Naturally I get downvoted for being pissed off and the man gets really mad I called him a mansplainer.

The first thing I do when I see a pair I like is try to put my phone in the front pocket. If it doesn't fit I move on.

I only buy pants with usable pockets. Which leaves basically work out tights. So when men bitch that we only wear those, there's a reason, WE WANT POCKETS!
