Let it be known (from a Canadian) that the media is trying to spin this as a boycott bc of the tariffs. Although it’s a contributing factor, we’re not okay with CONTINUED THREATS TO OUR SOVEREIGNTY. *That* is the bread and butter of the boycott. Many Canadians have already prepared to stick to their boycotts, tariffs or not. Habit forming doesn’t take long, and our trust with the USA has been shattered. This is generational; it will take many, many years for Canadians to view Americans with the respect and fraternity we had before.

ETA: thanks for the award and all the great replies!

edit 2: individual Americans who didn’t vote for this, just as an extra reassurance, we have nothing against you personally: this outrage is directed at this administration. I know we still have allies south of the 49th 🤝🏻

Everyone stood by America after 9/11. Canada and Europe sent soldiers to fight and die by our side. Trump is a piece of crap for destroying those relationships. I feel like boycotting America but I live here. Boycott away. I'll do my best to spend as little as possible here.

As an American - it is fair and reasonable and just. They are in the right. And I am appreciative of them because the sooner that the tariffs are settled and the whole 51st state nonsense gets cut out, the better for both of our countries.

As an American, I fully support it.

158 Canadian Armed Forces members died in Afghanistan and this is how America repays them.

Croatian here. Support for Canada 100%.

We in Europe are also starting to boycott US goods these days, and it’s probably only going to increase in the coming months.

We don’t get that many American goods here, but I believe everyone should do their part as much as they can.

I buy a lot of imported wine and I won’t be getting anything American for the foreseeable future.

I’m also actively looking for Canadian whiskies to support Canadian producers.

Canada should use this opportunity for a promotional push and advertise their products and services in Europe, and vice versa.

Never 51! 🇭🇷🇪🇺🇨🇦

I've joined them in boycotting USA goods down here in Australia.

I went to buy an orange today and for some reason it's from the USA all the way down here. I put it back, fuck the USA.

Go Canada

As a Canadian, it sucks that we even have to do this. If we give in, Trump will just keep coming up with unreasonable demands. It sucks that both of our economies have to suffer, but when our sovereignty is being threatened, we have to fight back. The US jokes about Canada being a 51st state and it's starting to be normalized among his base. Decades from now when this thinking is normalized even more, they can just easily invade us. We have to stop this shit now.

Why would anyone give money to someone who's threatening them?

Our shitty president and staff continue to make cutesy 51st state comments, like we're going to annex or invade them. Why wouldn't they hate us? If the shoe was on the other foot, Americans would be fucking livid.

If you punch someone in the face you shouldn't be surprised that they decided to fight back.

Canada needs to combat this asinine policy however it can. As an American I have no issue siding with Canada on this one, they're in the right.

I live in Scotland and always felt the strong bond our two counties have, they are the friendliest people in the world and good allies to the UK. I 100% stand with them and have been trying to buy Canadian and boycott the US as much as possible in the last few weeks.

As far as I’m concerned US are not good allies just now. Why would I side with them?

Shut down the machine.

Stop paying taxes. Stop working.

Do iiiiiitttt!!

I'm from Maine, I have much fondness and respect for our neighbors. I love that they are standing up and not being bullied by an organization/administration that doesn't have the leverage they think they have.

I'll even go as far as root for a Canadian team to win the Cup this year.

Stay strong my Maple syrup loving friends.

Good. This shit won't end until two major groups get hit.

1. The brainwashed MAGA and even then thats iffy because they'll just blame hunter's laptop or obama.

2. Most importantly the lazy fucks who stayed home and didn't vote cause "lol politics doesn't effect me idc"

I hope that group gets a gigantic wake up call when they realize they can't afford rent anymore and suddenly are scrapping by on rice and beans.

The 2/3rds of the country that either voted for trump or were too lazy to vote need to feel consequences for this to end and this helps with that.

Good. It shows that Canadians are not afraid to take a stand or succumb under bullying. And not just at a govt. level but also everyday Canadians making this boycott is a great thing to see.
