Edit
It's not mandatory, but please consider adding some user flair to indicate your age (or age range).
Below is the relevant part of the sidebar for those who cannot see it.
User flair:
I'm not a user of the Reddit redesign, but I believe you can find it by expanding the "COMMUNITY OPTIONS" menu in the sidebar. If you're on mobile, I have no idea. All the apps work differently. If your're on the old site, you edit your flair in the sidebar just underneath where it shows you how many subscribers there are. It's near the top of the page.
Rules, for those who can't see them:

This might be a good time to remind people to give themselves a user flair too; one that gives us a good idea of the age-range we're dealing with please.

You young people are not very good at explaining how to set a flair. Don't argue - you missed the first instruction.

I'm not even 40 and I'm "old".
Reddit can be quite depressing.

Well, define "old." And I still don't get how do a flair????
I'm 59 in calendar years but inside I still feel about 25 and have always thought like a Gen Z-er on most things. But physically I've felt about 60, since I was about 27. But even as a child I was always a small adult.
So - define "old."

Me: I'm not old, I'm calling about my [parent] etc., who is old.
Them: What's your age?
Me: 63
Them: ...

Why Gen X+? Some of the questions asked here deal with things I'm old enough to remember (e.g. Palm Pilots, airports before 9/11).

Can someone please define “old” here? Isn’t that kind of a relative term? I mean to a five-year-old, a 13-year-old is old. In the Supreme Court, someone in their 50s is considered young. At what age do you officially become old? I’d like to know if I’ve hit that age! 😊🤶🏻 Thanks!

Old enough to be pissed off when some young shit asks us "are you afraid of dying because your're so old" or "does technology scare you (when we designed the fucking stuff) or "what was the first car you drove?" or a multitude of repetitive questions that they ask.
They're so "advanced" that they can't figure out the search function of the subreddit so they have to ask the same goddamm questions once per week.
Get offa my lawn!

I don't know whether to be disappointed or pleased that I'm not quite old enough to answer questions on Ask Old People, being (only just) Gen Y.

Honest question. Rather than putting a "Gen X" comment in the "About" section on this, wouldn't it make better sense to just state an age qualification? That would future proof it. After all, some day, "Generation Z" or whatever we're calling the kids born this year will qualify.

Oh good. Gen X here. I am old enough. I mean technically I can consider myself a Xennenial because I just barely made the cut off for Gen X, but I did. What do I win?
