View submission: Which classic album (think 50s-80s), regardless of genre, should today's teenagers listen to at least once?

Decades ago now, when my oldest turned 13 I gave him a copy. My instructions were to just go listen. He loved it.

Good recommendation, but given current world events I'm going to ask we use The Wall.

Buddy, I was just about to type that sentence.… I mean, I don’t listen to it anymore but 50 years ago or whatever, we listened to it nonstop…. I mean there’s so many great classic albums but if you’re looking for the most important, I think you just said it.

This might be blasphemy but check out Dream Theater's live cover of the entire album. They brought in the saxophonist from the Roger Waters band and an amazing vocalist, Teresa Thompson. Her version of Great Gig is haunting.

It came out when I was 5½. Mom bought it the day after it came out. The local album rock station had played it on release. She picked it up before picking me up from kindergarten and when we got home she sat me and my little sister down in front of the HiFi and said "listen to all the sounds and see if you can figure out what they are," then proceeded to start getting things ready for my sister's 2nd bday party the next day. Sis toddled off almost immediately but I was sat there open-mouthed until the end. Went to stand up and my legs were asleep. It did something to my brain because I still remember most of the weekend's details.

Edit typo
