My grandfather was born in 1887. He was adopted, and brought to the place he grew up, then he moved as an adult to South Carolina. We know nothing about where he's from, or how he became to be adopted. There are no records, no stories, nothing in the family Bible. I've resorted to DNA kits for clues, and nothing. Every match so far has been on my grandmother's side.

My sister has tried to trace our dad's side and it all ends with one person in the Missouri. He pops up and that's the end of the line. I often wonder if he was on an orphan train. They would put a bunch of orphans from the east on a train and send them to the Midwest for adoption.

I. too, had orphaned grandparents born in 1891. My grandfather grew up in Savannah, GA. He was on my paternal side. On my maternal side, both great grandparents were orphaned, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia., Too many terminations for a good family history,
