View submission: Living with no Retirement money
I did. I lost 1/3 of it in 2008 when the market fell. I did have a small amount in savings but in the past 3 years, I've had tens of thousands of unexpected expenses. I've had to replace my entire hvac system, water heater, some appliances, emergency plumbing repairs, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long to put a serious dent in your savings.
I probably could have done better with saving. But my children are successful and happy, so I have all I need and more than what some people have.
