We set aside an amount each month to cover it by the end of the year. So, yeah. It's about $3k/yr.

We do the same with other expenses. We set aside a little each month to cover dental, glasses, Amazon Prime, Costco, etc. Our total SS each month after Medicare and taxes are taken out is about $4400. When there is no rent or car payment that goes pretty far.

Ah, that makes sense. I live in a state that gets a lot of its revenue from property taxes (we don't have an income tax), and our annual bill is almost $9k.
