There used to be an elderly woman with rheumatoid arthritis bagging groceries at a local pick a save. She did not look happy.

When covid was new, I saw a number of guys my age bagging groceries. I'll bet they never expected that in their old age.

Retirees work to make some play money, keep busy and get out of the house. With nothing but TV and the senior center to occupy your time, it can get pretty boring.

Social Security is only for those who contribute or whose spouse did. I know several old people who cleverly worked under the table their whole lives to avoid contributing, and who thus are not eligible for payouts.
