View submission: How many people love(d) their job?
I am a public school teacher in Toronto, I love my job. I taught in Japan for 6 years before that. I loved that too. I ran a Bed and Breakfast for 2 years, loved that too. If your partner hates their job, look for a new career while still employed, and get out!

I’ve always wanted to do this. I got in a relationship with a person so focused on retirement 25 years from now that I get scared to do anything

As someone who is in their first years of teaching, this is really reassuring to read! All people ever tell me is how much I'll end up hating it but so far I love my job most days. I know I might not always enjoy it as much as I do now, but this gives me hope that I will continue to enjoy this career :)

Public school teachers in the USA get paid in pokes-in-the-eye and kicks-in-the-balls/snatch.
I'm married to an Ontario high-school teacher, they are paied very well.
Pretty almost triple the starting salary of a teacher in the USA. Double if you adjust for the currency difference.
