Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well!
I made a big career shift in my mid 30s and successfully transitioned into DevOps. Coming from a third world country, where salaries are often less than $300 a month, this change has been life-changing for me. Over the past 1.5 years, I’ve worked incredibly hard to break into this field, and now I’m eager to take my skills to the next level.
I’ve spent the last two years learning through tutorials, but I’ve realized that real growth comes from handson experience. I want to break out of the “tutorial hell” and work on real-world projects in AWS, Azure, and GCP to make myself more employable for remote jobs in the $2000–$2500 range. Ill live like a king.
I’m looking for mentorship, someone who can guide me by assigning practical, end to end projects so I can learn by doing. I’m a fast learner with a strong work ethic, and I’m willing to put in the effort. In fact, I’m even open to working for free on meaningful projects as I build my portfolio.
If you’ve been through this journey or have experience in cloud and DevOps, I’d love to connect. Excited to learn and grow under the right guidance.

Please do not delete your post after receiving your answer. Consider leaving it up for posterity so that other Redditors can benefit from the wisdom in this thread.
Once your thread has run its course, instead of deleting it, **you can simply type "!lock" (without the quotes) as a comment anywhere in your thread to have our Automod lock the thread**. That way you won't be bothered by anymore replies on it, but people can still read it.

You’ll make more if you can successfully triage and fix infrastructure problems, and also build dashboards and alerting.
Learn Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus….
Splunk alone is huge.
If you mix that with what you already know, you’ll earn a solid living.
Also, learn the basic lingo of Agile Processes. It’s how we organize work.
Main tool for that is Atllasian (Jira).

You would benefit from getting AWS certified if you aren’t already. There’s several different certifications you can get, including the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional. The certs will make you more marketable.
