Recently my old boss passed away and I have taken over. Our old boss was very paranoid and would get rid of people at the drop of the hat saying they were enemies and whatnot. He would keep a list on his desk and would just sign his name and off they went!
After taking over I have toned down the mass firings and moved to be far more civil. Trying to get us back to the way we were supposed to be by our Founder. At an all hands meetings I called out our old boss for being less than ideal, and denounced his cult of personality that drove people to excesses for our old boss. I said that our Founder did not even want our old boss running the company and tried to get him fired before he died. Yes, our old boss did lead us through some really dark times, but he should have never treated our friends and colleagues the way he did! Yet there is some in upper management now mad at me for denouncing him so publicly.
Now this bloke, Leonid, keeps looking at me funny now. AITA?

YTA. Your Boss was just trying to follow the teachings of your Founder and bring the company to new heights of greatness. He was like a father to all your employees and now that he's dead you betray his trust and all he stood for?! Under his guiding hand, the company expanded into new branches, acquired several assets abroad and massively modernized production. All that in the most trying of times and at great cost to all who sacrificed themselves for the good of the company. You, sir, are betraying his legacy and the millions of employees that depend on you. You even declared you are willing to "co-exist peacefully" with the Western cartels - what kind of businessman are you?! Clearly, it is time someone else took up the mantle of the legacy you obviously don't deserve to wear.

Info: why was the old boss firing so many people? Was he no trying to improve by finding more capable people?
Also, how was he diverging from what the founder wanted?
