From a video by the Imperial War Museum on “Why Hitler invaded the Soviet Union”, one of the reasons cited was that Germany had 30% of their workforce in agriculture compared 20% for the US and 10% in Britain as they used more efficient large farms whereas small holdings were still the more prevalent form of farming in Germany.
