Mafia have been salivating over the idea of a bridge being built here since forever, the money they would get from the public tenders necessary to start the operation would be 100times more profitable than any drug dealing.

Not that deep, if the French can build 300 metre high pylons for a bridge, you can build also in 150 metre deep water.

I’ll repeat what I said to someone else.
The deepest point below the Golden Gate Bridge is 113 meters[1], this bridge would be doable depth-wise.

The sole reason is this.[2] The Strait of Messina is prone to horrible earthquakes. Yet, once again, the Golden Gate Bridge has endured earthquakes of a similar magnitude[3], so I don’t know why they won’t build a bridge.
