Do you think that the modern web is bloat?
Absolutely.
Absolutely. No one can write new browser from scratch. This is like go to the Moon.
The Javascript web is... but imo a smaller web is not. I like to go with the subset that netsurf can do
I mean, js can literally control my phone's vibrator an my computer's usb ports... that stuff should be confined in an optional, opt-in extension. without it, and with graceful css degradation, the document web could be actually nice
#246, i am agree with you.Netsurf cool
Yes, but I think that without the web being as it is now it would have been almost impossible for computers and the internet to gain as much popularity as it has
web is bloat, say "thanks" to capitalism
Thw modern web is more than I wan't but it's been successful and that's why it is the way it is
here is a minimal subset of the modern web: https://wowana.me/htss.xht
lots of selection bias here lmao
>>383 thanks for the link, that looks great!
I dont think http is bloat, but geminin is greatttttttttt
When you have to wait a full 8 seconds for a page to load on a 76Mbps connection, only to find out that the site is 400MB yet contains barely enough actual content to fit in an 8K file...then yes, the Web is as bloated as my lactose-intolerant aunt after a quart of milk..
But still, that's individual websites. Is the web really bloat? Or are bad websites bloat? Or are new web features bloat (tink of webUSB...)? I think it's a mix of the last two
