What's in your pockets?
I normally have a collection of stuff which I try to remember to carry with me whenever I leave the house.
- Phone/Wallet/Keys
- A Leatherman Squirt PS4 multitool on my keys. I use it's screwdriver the most often but having a knife is sometimes handy and the pliers are nice to have even if they aren't useful every day.
- A Yubikey 5 NFC. I ummed and ahhed about buying a Yubikey for months before doing so. If you're thinking about it, get one. I have all of my 2FA TOTP code generation loaded on to it and then also have it set up as a U2F/Webauthn key wherever will allow you to do so. U2F/Webauthn means that when I log in to Github for example, it requests that I plug my key in and touch the contact point to proceed. It all feels very cyberpunk and cool. (I also have a second one which I got from buying an Ars Technica Pro++ subscription which I keep up to date with the TOTP codes so that if my main one breaks I have a fallback position.)
- I normally carry a small A6ish notebook and a pen with me because I find if I take notes on a digital device they tend to just disappear into the void, whereas if I write them down physically I'm more likely to see them ever again.
So there we have it, the jumble of crap in my pockets. What's in yours?
