Today is a big day!
Persona is often described as one half demonic Pokemon, and one half life simulator. Persona 3 is a 100-hour-long game. You spend maybe 70 hours saving the world, and around 30 hours just being a high school student & hanging out with friends. It's all cleverly tied together with the Persona system - you collect them and use them in battle, but they also act as the layer between you and the rest of society - meaning that depending on your Persona, different characters will like you more. It's weird and Japanese and Jungian and shit, so it takes a while to explain it, but trust me, this game is actually very easy to get into.
Persona 3 is very different from the previous games in the franchise, and was the first one to use the Social Link mechanics, so it's not as polished as P4 (or P5, which I won't be playing any time soon...) But the Portable edition adds some nice features, like actually being able to control your party members, and also a playable female character, with completely different dialogue. I picked the female character because I've heard that her writing was better, as it was made years after the original Persona 3: I can't compare as I've never played the male MC route, but I agree that the writing is really good! *Anyway, I cannot think of any real flaws with this game, other than it being long and repetitive. Even then, I avoided grinding, so Tartarus never felt like a chore to me* - the difficulty curve/RNG-bullshit curve was always just right. *9/10*, almost shed a tear at the end, always sad to end an amazing 100-hour journey; took me more than half a year in real time.
I emulated this game on my phone, it worked extremely well! This game does not require much processing power, and because it's a turn-based RPG, it works perfectly fine with touchscreen controls. I was experimenting with PSP emulation on my phone: at first I tried to play /Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker/, but it was really laggy, and playing it on a touchscreen sucked really badly. *Meanwhile, Persona 3 Portable plays perfectly. Highty recommended!*
