It has been a while. I haven't come to write anything here on my gemini capsule because of my studies: I started studying mathematics at Aalto university. I have focused on my studies and social life, not writing these nerdy glog posts.
The mathematics I study is quite engineer-y, or at least it has been this far. What matters is being able to calculate things, not being able to understand them.
I'd like to say that it's a shame. I'm kind of drawn to pure mathematics. Who wouldn't be? But alas, pure maths is best suited as a hobby, unless one is aiming for a career in academia. This was a wise career choice. And all hope is not lost! I'll have a course in metric spaces next period, and that should be quite theoretical.
As a side note, I fixed `stdu` for you, in case someone would like to use it. Now it can actually handle binary data. What a dumb error to output usind `printf` and not `fwrite`. I'll add a link to the repo below. In case you happen to find any bugs, please contact me at joel dot kronqvist at iki dot fi!
My goal is not to stop writing here entirely. I'm quite a technical person, but I try to keep my perspective broad. Actually writing text now and then helps with that quite a bit. Now I've got to go to the gym, who knows if I'll find time for it during next term ;)
Happy new year everyone!
