Today I've been tinkering with tech all day, so there's not going to be individual vibe ratings for each bullet; the overall experience was positive, as it was fun rather than frustrating and it was to work on doing offline backups of my
things.
1. Protonmail = IMAP. (using Thunderbird) I like Protonmail, but the fact that I can't even use a generic mail app without having to download a bridge (on PC, I can't even do that on phone or Linux!) is frustrating and not something I want as my daily driver... Back to good ol' IMAP on an account with small storage so I remember to download my archives locally and sync them with Syncthing.
2. Tumblr dashboard, Wallabag, Pocket = RSS (using Tiny Tiny RSS + Thunderbird as a reader) I mostly use my blog as an archive for things I like, but it turns out using an exclusively online service with arbitrary moderation and walled blogs is a bad idea, so I'm just getting a copy from the blog feeds into my reader and saving the ones I like as .eml files.
3. Spotify = MP3 files (I still have to find a good batch metadata editor and player). I'm worried about the sheer size of my music library, it's still huge even with just one playlist + albums, but it may be time to pare it down... I'm excited to Not Use Streaming.
It was a good day, and I enjoy using stuff that aligns with my political values in terms of resource usage, compatibility and open access. I also had some leftover horchata and felt like the Vampire Weekend guy. Wahoo :)
