A work of fiction generally revolves around the acts of a number of characters.
However, not all characters are created equal. Some are fleshed out, some aren't.
Some, we care about them personally. Some, we only care about who or what they
represent, be it symbollically, or literally (think, Poe's Raven vs Imperial
Stormtroopers from Star Wars).
However, it isn't only characters that move the story forwards. sometimes, one
can spot a theme, or an organisation, or a natural phenomenon quite drastically
changing where the story was going.
These themes, characters, phenomena, organisations, and other things are all
Players in the great game of life.
They all have their own motivations, their strengths, their weanesses.
And, most importantly for this game, the audience may form an emotional bond
with any of them.
There are five types of Player: Individual, Band, Army, Faction, and Theme.
A player at its simplest, yet most complicated. A single person.
Unless a rule states otherwise, it probably assumes that the player in question
is an Individual.
