Today, I had some university things happen, but this is not meant to be a diary. It is meant to be a place of Advent meditation.
About two thousand and twenty five years ago, Joseph, descendant of David, and his newly wedded and pregnant wife, Mary were on their way to Bethlehem, the city of David. We know not what vehicle they used, although traditionally it is held to be a donkey. We know not what day of the year it was, so we celebrate around the wonter solstice, although I hear that the middle of September is more likely.
It is interesting how often people write sermons based on single words appearing in only one translation, or on details that aren't even in the Bible. While, in theory, there isn't anything wrong with doing this, I consider it unwise to base one's theology, and thus one's eternal fate on an idea that is from about 1.5k years and a few thousand kilometers displaced from the events it claims to relate to.
Just my thoughs.
