great conversations at work: we had two speakers join us to speak to the company.

one about d.e.i. initiatives and the other about corporate responsibility, whichare both massive topics.

there was a tiny bit of tension in the room recognizing how imperfect the world is. it shows we all care, at least.

there were some notable absences in the room, and i'm glad to not be the only one who noticed.

after hours, we all went to a bar to have a few drinks (or, if you're me, fries.) spent time speaking to a great coworker who seems to sarcastically sing some praises. he says:

"all i ever hear around the office is, 'he's good at this, he's good at that.' so what are you bad at?"

my answer, of course, was shutting up. i'm bad at shutting the fuck up.

he's from a far off land where there's a german town where you would absolutely not expect a german town, which is incredible. he showed me pictures and all, it looked straight out of a german storybook, but it's in south america. he has a family, he loves his small town, and he's very thoughtful. it comforts me to know his life exists, among many, outside of the bubble of new york city.
