yesterday i was excited at how much i had to write in my journal (and the plenty of details i probably dismissed for a lack of having time to write them.)
on this day, however, i did a whole bunch of nothing. got some work done. played chess on my phone. cleaned to procrastinate.
by the end of the day, around 8 p.m., i decided to leave for my nightly walk only to realize my phone was nearly dead. so, i charged it, and in the hour i allowed it to charge, i got more done than i had the previous nine hours.
the walk was pleasant and uneventful. i've been listening to this book called "a curious history of sex" by kate lister. i learned the extensive history of the word "cunt", which i've always thought a quite pleasing quartet of letters. sure enough, it's quite a wonderful word:
- tied to the etymology of the words cunning and queen
- it's the original word for vagina
- any other words have been mere sterilizations of "cunt"
- wasn't always stigmatized / offensive
- possibly referred to in shakespeare
- the word refers only to itself, as opposed to the etymology of "vagina" or "vulva" which only define themselves in relation to the male.
it's a lovely day to learn.
