Sleep including but not limited to REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD):
More than 80 percent of patients suffering from this disorder develop a neurodegenerative pathology within 10 to 15 years of the onset of RBD. Most often, it is Parkinson’s disease. In fact, the brain’s failure to inhibit movements during dreams is a sign that the brain is already beginning to be damaged because [this phenomenon] results from the damage to the area of the brain stem that normally inhibits movement.
