WebLog

You are in a maze of tiny little pages, all alike

Weblogs are much like homepages, only more dynamic – easier to update.

Weblogs are a great way to keep in touch with family, to keep up with recent developments in an area of interest of yours (since you can keep read up on the events surrounding the major players), and you can learn about other countries and cultures.

If you want to keep people posted on your life, make it personal. I like reading personal blogs of people in foreign countries. I want to know what it feels like to be in that culture. Relationships, food, pictures, traffic, studies, getting up, going to sleep, religion, everything is of interest.

You can still protect your privacy by replacing all names of people and towns with letters. You just have to be really careful, then.

The problem with the web is, after a while *everybody* knows you’re a dog.

Compare this to “On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a dog.” – check the New Yorker Collection 1993, http://www.cartoonbank.com/ and looking for Peter Steiner.
