Games
- Soul Calibur* – every game in this series was awesome: Soul Edge on the Playstation, Soul Calibur on the on the Dreamcast, and Soul Calibur 3 on the the Playstation 2, each one better than the predecessor. All of them better than their closest competitors: Tekken 3 at the time of Soul Edge, and Virtua Fighter 4 at the time of Soul Calibur 1 & 2.
- Final Fantasy Tactics* (FFT) on the Playstation. It belongs to the very small list of games I actually finished. This is THE mark of quality in my computer game reviews! Better than its competitor: Vandal Hearts 2.
- Vagrant Story* had amazing graphics on the Playstation, an interesting story and an innovative combat system. It also had a little too much alchemy and I didn’t beat the end boss, which is the only real problem with this game.
- Jade Empire* and *Fable* on the Xbox had a hold on me for countless hours. These two games alone justified me buying the Xbox! And I finished both games.
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time* on the Playstation 2 was a great game after a long period of lousy games. Check my reports of autumn 2004. The follow up, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, was darker, more confusing, and I haven’t even bothered buying the next sequel.
- Jet Set Radio* on the Dreamcast. One of the games I finished! Awesome scenery, awesome design, cool Japanese electrofunk.
- Advance Wars* on the GBA: Borrowed the sucker from a friend’s brother and played it day and night. Totally cool tactics, much like good ol’ Empire! And it was interesting for 16 maps, which was cool. The last map was a bit boring, perhaps I just failed choosing the right approach. So it ended with a long and tedious attrition war. But I won. Finished the game.
- Metropolis Street Racer* (MSR) – one of the few racers I practically finished. I think bugs in the design made some challenges impossible to win. I got nearly all the cars, anyway. The follow-up, Gotham Street Racing, no longer fascinated me.
- Crazy Taxi* – after practicing for weeks, and practically memorizing the layout of the city, I was able to make it to Awesome! and beyond. To crash into stuff, slide, learning the shortcuts (since the compass is not perfect) and drive like crazy was exhilarating. The sequel was not as captivating anymore.
- Burnout 2: Takedown* – I spent countless hours playing it alone and with my best friend. We did all the crashes, we won nearly all the races. The F1 races were impossible to win without memorizing the entire course. Too bad! Somehow I liked it better than its sequel, Burnout 3: Revenge.

Both Advance Wars and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance rate as the best games ever for the GBA. They’ve eaten hundreds of hours of my life between them.
Good list! 😄

Oh... Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Advance War 2 would be a good reason to buy a GBA.
