When I started writing Oddµ, I thought I might not need any wiki syntax at all. I don't particularly like Markdown links but it seemed that they were good enough.
When the focus isn't so much collaboration with strangers, wiki links aren't all that important any more. Does a link language really need WikiWords or double square brackets? When writing in a language with a lot of inflection, things are difficult enough. Perhaps it is easier to give the concept it's own, terse name – it's filename. In which case Markdown syntax is good enough. The author needs to provide the link text and the page name.
As it turns out, however, there are some occasions where I like linking to "concept pages" (as opposed to "blog pages"). And there, inflection can be a problem, but it usually isn't. I found myself writing a lot of `[RPG](RPG)` links, for example. How much simpler it would be if I could write `[[RPG]]` instead! And so that's what happened: I added double square bracket links back.
