Sitting at the table after breakfast, reading stuff… I have a hard time reading PDFs of papers, ebooks, and printed newspapers, I think. Something about the entire process makes my attention drift. I guess I want to be smart and read all that stuff but in actual fact I just want to be entertained.
Collecting donations for 2021. Yikes, we’re very late!
No more FSF and FSFE.
We donated…
And I pay double subscription for the local leftist weekly newspaper, WOZ, CHF 530 in total.
As for political associations in Switzerland: we are members of Mieterverband (for tenants) and VCS Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz (for sustainable mobility, unlike the Touring-Club, which is pro-cars).

Seeing from the Emacs Wiki and this page that you are no longer member of the FSF (or FSFE) and also that you were member for several years, I was wondering what prompted you to do so.

For one, the rise of Digitale Gesellschaft in Switzerland allowed me to do this. I feel weird supporting NGOs in the USA and in the EU when I don’t live there and now I finally have an option.
Furthermore, I ended up not using Savannah by FSF or the encryption card by the FSFE; the Jabber account I got from the FSFE was not usable from Bitlbee, so in terms of services I was unhappy.
Finally, the FSF board removed RMS, then added him back in, and I think I do not want to support that kind of governance. An in the case of the FSFE, I was not happy about the things I read about Kirschner (more details), and I don’t want to support that kind of leadership.
But in more general terms, I’m trying hard to stop donating to orgs where the leadership seem to betray the values I support. So when the king of Spain hunts elephants, I am disgusted with an organization that let this happen.

Perhaps we need to brown nose the mighty but I am sick and tired of narcissistic tendencies in all the spheres of power including the NGOs I support. So when something like that happens, out they go. There are enough others to support.
