2021-07-04 Spam Surge

I’ve been spared wiki spam for quite a while now. Apparently one of my readers belongs to that special scum of the earth, the kind of developers that feels no shame pooping in other people’s homes, thinking that as long as there are no consequences anything goes. These people with no sense of shame and no empathy are really the bane of humanity.

Please think happy thoughts as I add their URLs to the ban list and roll back their changes. 😃

Yep, they’re still at it. Every day I’m reverting some edits, either here, or on Oddmuse Wiki, or on Community wiki (new).

I usually do the following:

• roll back the change (undoes the change, and hides it from Recent Changes)
• add regular expressions matching the URLs they’re spamming to BannedContent
• add regular expressions banning their entire network (not just the IP number), in the hopes of banning all sorts of hosting services (Amazon, Scaleway, and whatever they are called in Russia, Ukraine, and Vietnam)
