2019-01-06 Submitting the Podcast to iTunes
Today I submitted my podcast to iTunes.

Why iTunes, of all places? Is there no open podcast directory? Apparently there is not!

So... The feed validator has some issues:
feed validator
- stupid RFC 822 date format was a problem because sometimes I had gotten the weekday wrong, and “GMT” wasn’t a valid time zone (professionals use `date -u -R`)
- the enclosure URL is specified to be “an http url” and me serving HTTPS URLs was deemed to be an error (which I decided to ignore)
- it strongly suggested I add the guid element to each item

And when iTunes looked at my feed, it had more complaints:
- the image wasn’t big enough and so I switched from my Prisma face (around 1100×1100) to the Halberds and Helmets Logo which is 1600×1600
- I lacked some iTunes data like category, explicit, and I added type *serial* which apparently means your subscription starts from the beginning, not from the end

I’m looking at Podcast best practices right now and wondering what else I should add.
Podcast best practices
what else
- “To be eligible for featured placement in Apple Podcasts, artwork must be a 3000 x 3000 pixel JPEG or PNG file with 72 dpi in the RGB color space.” Madness!
- “You can also use specific images for individual episodes.” Maybe I should do that. Except they have those insane size requirements again. Maybe I won’t be doing that!
