Do you know of any choral works for a melancholy heart like mine? Something like the German Requiem by Brahms or All-Night Vigil by Rachmaninov? Something to instil some spirituality in my hardened little atheist heart? I didn’t find Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis but it didn’t touch me. Should I give it another try? Something else?

I’ll suggest the *Ode an die Freude*, but I’ll do that at any provocation or none, so take the suggestion for what it’s worth in such light. I will say, if you can listen to the entire piece uninterrupted and find yourself totally unmoved throughout, it might be worth checking to make sure you haven’t mislaid your pulse somewhere...

Hah. I was asking for melancholy music. The problem is right there, in the name: *Joy*. But yes, it is a great piece of music. 😄
Meanwhile...
Some of the names I was given led me to this wiki I had never heard of: ChoralWiki, home of the Choral Public Domain Library! “Here you will find free choral/vocal scores, texts, translations, and other useful information.” I love that these things exist.
