Feeling good. Wanted to draw another monster manual entry. Boar. Liked the reference pic. Armed Hunter vs. Wild Boar. I didn’t read the story, I just looked at that picture and started drawing. Instant happiness!
The boar came so easily to me, it was a breeze to do!

Is it just surprising or are you suggesting changes? I dislike 2d4 and 3d4 for damage and just used 1d8 and 1d12 instead. Close enough for me. 🙂 As for HD there’s always the comparison with wolves and war dogs: 2+2. Apparently multiple wolves are required to take down a wild pig. So the only way I see is up. But HD 4 and 5 is for worgs and the like?

Just surprised mostly. Not sure if its really worth the trouble trying to re-balance all the animals to get them closer to a certain vision instead of just saying that the campaign world is like that and boars are really really dangerous.

Boars being dangerous is ok for me. I think traditionally you needed many people to kill one (plus they needed that boar spear thing, right?)
Also, the thing about bugbears (Waldschrat) is their sneakiness. Like a master thief... stealing your babies for the dark elf queen and leaving changelings for you to raise... the simple stats are too boring.

I think they need many people to hunt (because they are elusive and quick) but not necessarily to kill. They are not natural predators they are just very aggressive in certain situations.
But anyway, I don’t think its worth thinking about that much. “Princess Mononoke” like boars are much more fun anyway. 🙂

I decided to add a little bit saying that orcs use pigs like humans use dogs. So now the stats can be orcish war boars. 🙂 And bugbears are next!
