2012-05-15 Pictures of half-naked Women in RPG Books

• Sexism in gaming art* – every body is talking about it, and I know very little about it. Also, male, white, straight, privilege and all that. But I have a *personal anecdote*. Once every four weeks a good friend comes over and brings his three kids and maybe a guest kid for some role-playing. We use *Labyrinth Lord* and the kids love to look at monster manuals and other stuff. The young teenage girl looks at one of the Paizo books and asks me: *Why are all the women in this book half naked?*

I didn’t know what to say.

In the end, I said something about the company thinking that more men buy the books because that’s what many men like. *I felt stupid*.

It’s always a bit of a jar when I’m brought up against the fact that I’m mainly a strategically shaved monkey with a veneer of sophistication.
