We went to see what we had planned to see yesterday, Carrowmore megalithic cemetery and Sligo Abbey. The guided tour at the abbey was free, friendly and knowledgeable. After the tour we chatted with another very friendly guide at the visitor center and asked a lot more questions regarding the differences between Franciscan and Domenican orders, the differences between friaries and abbeys, the restoration process—until John joined the conversation and we talked about archeology, Irish history, compared the education systems of Switzerland and Ireland and left with a pub recommendation: Hargadon’s on O’Connell street, Sligo. I loved the old floor plan with the séparées.

What followed was a drive to the hotel near Donegal with a cabaret dinner featuring the best Elvis imitator of 2006. He was truly amazing. The opera singers, tango dancers, the fiddler, the band—they all suffered because the sound system was not perfect, the music too loud, etc. But this Elvis guy rocked my socks because I loved Elvis as a kid.

Harvey’s Point near Donegal had wonderful a room and the bathroom was huge with Jacuzzi, perfect! The funny thing was that we had arrived on one of the nights where they have a cabaret dinner. Apparently this is a regular thing during the summer season. That was – surprising. 🙂

I also laughed when I saw their logo on the menu: *Swiss made in Ireland*.
