We drove north to Ballina and visited the Rosserk abbey, continued on to Sligo, missed the megalithic graves and ended up relaxing in the late afternoon sun on the Strandhill dunes before retiring to the hotel. There, we took a little stroll through their park. If only we had been here as kids, we would have lost ourselves.
Markree Castle had the biggest rooms we saw, felt very old with a very nice garden and park around it. This was one of the hotels where I felt that the food wasn’t as excellent as the rooms themselves.
