Sky Walk

We arrived in Monteverde. We travelled by taxi, boat, and another taxi. Once you’ve spent an hour or more on the dirt roads, you start to feel like you’re lost in the wilderness. All the more astonishing when you reemerge on paved roads, or when you see luxurious lodges and international cuisine restaurants “in the middle of nowhere” – the dirt road leads right up to them and it seems impossible to reach without a 4WD. But then you’ll remember that you’re sitting in something akin to the old Volkswagen bus yourself...

Monteverde

We’re stayin for three nights in total. We just don’t want to rush through this country. 😄

Update*: We’re going for the Sky Walk this afternoon. We switched hotels yesterday (from the Oasis to the Tree House) because we wanted a better place – more light, breakfast included, taking credit cards, and with Internet terminals. They are using Debian on three multihead machines. I’m impressed. I’m sitting here, reading the web, with Claudia figuring out where we’re going tomorrow – Samará beach, or Manuel Antonio. I have two chicas sitting next to me browsing a site called hi5 – some sort of facebook alternative. One of them just signed up, the other seems to be flirting online. Interesting times.

This trip looks awesome. I look forward to hearing more about it. Costa Rica’s cloud forests are one place I hope to visit sometime in the not-so-distant future.
