I’m often tempted to use the overland movement rules. But then I look at my hex maps with five or six miles per hex, and I get caught up in all the details. Waste of time!
So we’ll go with the following (useful for five mile hexes):

In my Alder King campaign we’ll start with a jungle and no roads: Movement will be one hex day in the jungle and two hexes a day in the hills. I don’t have to discover an elegant rule that simulates overland movement with horses and travels on roads through mixed terrain. Phew! 😄
