2008-05-19 Between Melancholia and Dancing

Currently listening to a playlist called On-The-Go 4 which is short for “Melancholia and Dancing”:

*Folklore* by *16 Horsepower* – SamRose says “psychedelic hillbilly music with a crazy southern hollerin’ revivalist twist”; personally I find that it is melancholy country music by people torn between Sin and God. A terrible place to be.
*In Rainbows* by *Radiohead* – that’s the album that was legally available for download for a donation ¹; I guess some would call them psychedelic, too. I remember my boss hearing them and shaking his head: “This is dreadful. It lacks beauty!” I replied: “Beauty has nothing to do with it.”
*If You’re Feeling Sinister* by *Belle & Sebastian* – apparently their best album [²](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_You're_Feeling_Sinister); they play uplifting music, but unfortunately I only understand various text fragments that hint at darker lyrics – I should check before nodding happily along.
