Many moons ago, I said:
I’m very happy with my Apple Airport Express for up to five people. – 2005-10-22 WiFi
These days I’m using my Mac Mini as an audio server. It runs iTunes, streams music to the airport, which is hooked up to the stereo. Sometimes it plays many hours every day.
Sometimes I want to copy files from the Mac Mini to my iBook. As I use an OpenWlan, I don’t want to use personal file sharing. Instead, I use `scp`. And here’s what I noticed:
I can wait all I want. The lamp is green. Signal quality is good. :airport:
But it’s dead. 🙁
I need to unplug it, wait 10s, replug it, and wait half a minute. Grrrr! >{
The airport page mentions “AirPort Express Firmware Update 6.3 for Mac OS X” posted January 3, 2006. If I run the “AirPort Admin Utility” I see that I’m using “Apple Base Station 6.2”. Well, perhaps upgrading the driver will help...
I don’t have a reason to test it, however, since my aborted `scp` session made me switch to `rsync -avz foo:bar/dir .` Yay!
