A while ago I mooched two books... Relevation Space by Alastair Reynolds and Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds. I’m not sure what to make of them. Both were books around six hundred pages or more. I enjoyed them, and nevertheless I feel a little cheated at the end. There’s an emptiness being left behind. Perhaps the books were too long. The plot was good, but not perfectly executed. There would be passages too long or to inconsequential, time spent constructing hooks that would not be resolved. Perhaps Reynolds plans to use them for future books. It’s hard to put into words. I think I’m going to switch away from Science Fiction books for a while and return to Japanese stuff. I’ve got some books here waiting to be read...
