We bitch about how young people are not politically engaged, but when they speak out for something that hegemonic society disapproves of, they are slapped down. Ah, the irony. ¹
It reminds me of the kids protesting against the US invasion of Iraq some years ago. I don’t think that our media reacted as condenscendingly as that.
