After starting to read the Webcredible Handbook (gratis PDF for a limited while, via Stefan Bucher), I decided that I really should give the search box at the top another try. So I experimented with the search box on the right below the heading (both floating and absolute positioning), and finally settled on the search box up in the nav bar with a bit more whitespace after the Calendar.
Does it work for you? I removed the Search/Go! button, too. Somehow it bothered me, looked too heavy. And I much prefer to use the Enter key than to hit Tab and Space to click the button.
There’s some Oddmuse code on Oddmuse:Comments on Searching for those interested. I really feel that once I have decided on the “right” approach, it should be part of the Oddmuse core. Search should be up there!
