I haven’t watched many movies in recent times:
- *A History of Violence (2005)**: We kept imagining what it would be like, being in her shoes. Whether we would wanted to know. In the end, a bit grumpy, I said that I didn’t want to imagine terrible things happening to our relationship, and that I had decided to not ask what I wanted us to know but what I wanted us to *be*. Anyway, the cuts and imagery sometimes reminded me of Takeshi Kitano’s Hanabi (1997): Looming catastrophy, a man seemingly at peace, inner turmoil, sudden violence.

- *Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)**: Absolutely *brilliant* – a descent into the madness of drugs when the grand illusion of the Hippies turned into puke and brain damage, a wild drunken dance with the absurdity of the American Dream in the world of hotels, stars, casinos, cars, and the police. I recommend it.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
- *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)**: I had expected something lighter, something absurder, something more enthralling. But it was cool and grey and over the top in an old-fashion way, maybe a bit like Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll. There’s no “Suspension of Disbelief“ ¹.

- *[Howl's Moving Castle (2004)](http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Howl's+Moving+Castle+2004)**: Nice animation. I liked the flying ships, and the short moment where the little fire spirit suddenly flares, roars, and there’s *POWER!! written all over his face!*
