Yesterday I got rid of the ElispArea and put all its files onto the Emacs Wiki. Then load went up to 100 and the admins shut my scripts down. The culprit was that I had sorted the files by *size*. The last 15 uploads where the 15 largest files. There were some people that are reading the RSS feed including page content. That feed was about 4MB... 😄
I temporarily disabled this feature.
Today I got rid of the visitors action. I never used it and felt bad for invading people’s privacy. At the same time I wrote a Oddmuse:Big Brother Extension to better track readers. I only use it for Community Wiki because people there are trying to explore the idea of “embodying” people online, claiming we need to see *more* of what we’re doing online.
See WhoIsWatchingUs, which goes beyond simple WhoIsOnline.
