2005-07-14 Terrorism

When I read about terror counter-measures, when I see how calmly we react to the terror in London, when I then read how the police visited one of the suspect’s family by breaking through a wall (sounds like something they lernt from the Israeli occupation forces) – then I am strangely reminded of the movie *Brazil* (IMDB:0088846). There are is a scene where a hyper-armed police force breaks through the roof of an innocent man and arrests him. At the time it must have seemed like hyperbole. These days it seems like a realistic assessment. There is a scene where they eat in a restaurant and continue with their conversation while a bomb explodes in the background, and terror is accepted as just another aspect of life. We fight against them. Always. And that again reminds me of the perpetual low-intensity war in Orwell’s 1984. ISBN 014027877X.
