I wonder whether it makes sense to use strikeout line-through to indicate changes as I write on my own blog. Should I use this intentionally (ie. via a text formatting rule), or should I use this to highlight diffs? Doing it automatically would be difficult because diff-the-tool doesn’t know anything about paragraph boundaries and would place ! and !<*del> in different paragraphs without thinking twice (or at all, for that matter).*
Later (2005-06-26): I found that if you use a lot of hyphenation, such as in “the so-called north-east arrow” then a lot of false positives come up. Very unfortunate. I decided to use the del tag: This is deleted! <*del>*
