TelePolis writes that a judge in the US has ruled that all the other Abu Ghraib pictures where not being published because of pressure by the government. It seems that a judge has ruled against this, however. I guess we’ll be seeing a lot more cruelties. The article says the pictures show prisoners being beaten half to death, raped, boys being raped, defiling of corpses... ¹
They even quote Rumsfeld:
First, beyond abuse of prisoners, there are other photos that depict incidents of physical violence toward prisoners, acts that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhuman. Second, there are many more photographs, and indeed some videos. Congress and the American people and the rest of the world need to know this. In addition, the photos give these incidents a vividness, indeed a horror, in the eyes of the world. …. It’s going to get still more terrible, I’m afraid. Donald Rumsfeld
It must be horrible indeed, then. But I agree with the judge, who is cited at the end as saying that the American people need to know what is being done in their name, and that the pictures are the only proof of what actually happened.
